It is almost every popular artist’s goal to ever hit 1 million views on YouTube. The Google video sharing platform pays an estimate of $3,000 to $7,000 earnings on 1 million views and this is quite a milestone in one’s career.

In Malawi’s history, by February 2017, Gemini Major was the first Malawian artist to surpass the milestone for his Ragga Ragga video which featured Cassper Nyovest, Ricky Rick, Major League Dj’s and Nadia Nakai. The video hit 1 million YouTube views after six months of its release.  For the record, not any other Malawian artist has reached 1 million views since 2017.

Apparently, other music videos from Malawi making good progress on YouTube are San B’s ‘Wamphamvu’, Janta’s ‘Divorce’, Sipe’s ‘Chikondi Ndi Ndalama’ Grace Chinga’s ‘Ndiululileni’ , Grace Chinga’s  ‘udzayimba nyimbo’ , MWEDEEE by Lawrence Benjere, Nepman – Na Lelo ft Kabol and Martse ft Kell Kay – Mwano.  Come to 2020, with new video from Onesimus for ‘Easy Baby’, a song from his second album ‘Messenger’, the artist makes a greater difference and his video seems so promising!

Will Onesimus be the next artist from Malawi to surpass the milestone? Onesimus’s video ‘Easy Baby’ is progressing nicely with 123k views in just a month and a week. Last month, Easy Baby had 50,000 views in just two weeks. Onesimus tweeted that “I believe we can hit a million in few months.”
